September 24, 1871- October 17, 1940

Florence Scovel was born in New Jersey and she was educated at the Pennsylvania Academy of fine arts in Philadelphia. She later married Everett Shinn and moved to New York to pursue a career as an illustrator. In 1912 she divorced Everett.

Florence was a large part of the metaphysical and new thought movement happening in the country at that time. She released her book "The Game of Life and How to Play It" in 1925.

Her writings followed such greats new thought teachers as Phineas Quimby, Emma Curtis Hopkins, Charles Fillmore and Myrtle Fillmore.

She has impacted the lives of millions of people through one of her favorite students Louise Hay. This was the book that started Louise Hay on her spiritual journey.

I found the book The Game of Life after reading another book titled You've Got to Read This Book by Jack Canfield and Gay Hendricks. I love listening and reading stories about other people's lives anyway, especially if they're inspiring or motivational.

Louise Hay mentioned that this was the book that changed her life so I had to get it. The Game of Life is a simple book that applies the use of words and affirmations to change your life. It's not a long book but the value is definitely there.

I've always looked up to Louise Hay as one of my mentors in life and she didn't let me down when she recommended this book just by mentioning it in another book. This was the book that it changed her life and started her down a spiritual journey.

Florence is a wonderful writer and even though the book was written in 1927 it still has a lot of modern day useful information in it. For someone who's studying the laws of attraction or metaphysics I would recommend this book.
