September 24, 1871- October 17, 1940
Florence Scovel was born in New Jersey and she was educated at the
Pennsylvania Academy of fine arts in Philadelphia. She later married
Everett Shinn and moved to New York to pursue a career as an
illustrator. In 1912 she divorced Everett.
Florence was a large part of the metaphysical and new thought movement
happening in the country at that time. She released her book "The Game
of Life and How to Play It" in 1925.
Her writings followed such greats new thought teachers as
Phineas Quimby,
Emma Curtis Hopkins,
Charles Fillmore and
Myrtle Fillmore.
She has impacted the lives of millions of people through one of her
favorite students Louise Hay. This was the
book that started Louise Hay on her spiritual journey.
